It seems hard to believe that we are at the start of another year. 2009 was a year marked by events of enormous importance to Lifehouse at RPA. The year began following on from the announcement by the NSW Premier in December 2008, that the State had approved our business plan, and would provide support for the Lifehouse project in the form of access to land and equipment. This resulted in an ongoing series of negotiations through the course of the year to finalise the many details that were required in order for the project to progress.

Then, on 17^th April, the Lifehouse name and logo were formally launched, with the Prime Minister providing the welcome news that the Federal Government had tripled its contribution towards the project to a total of $150m.

The excitement of this news was soon overshadowed by the sadness of Chris O’Brien’s death on 4^th June, and the subsequent state funeral. Although this was a difficult time for all who knew him, and especially for his family, this made everyone all the more determined to bring Lifehouse to reality. Click here to read full message

Welcome to 2010.  As the year commences I have been reflecting on the events that have occurred over the course of the past year.

In April, Lifehouse at RPA came into being, with the Prime Minister launching our new name and logo. The task faced by Lifehouse is a large one: to create a truly integrated cancer centre, which provides holistic care, focuses on the needs of patients and their families and conducts cutting edge research. Fortunately we have a dedicated and enthusiastic team working on the project.

We also have the backing of people like you who provide both encouragement as well as financial support.
